We are finally at the fifth and final post on my series about the five most important videos your business needs for its website.

The last video is Testimonials.

You will be relieved to hear that testimonial videos are the easiest ones to put together. Easy in the fact that the picture quality doesn’t have to be great, and you don’t have to write a script or direct the shots… all you need is a willing customer to give you an honest review.

Unless you are using a talented actor… the sincerity of a genuine video testimonial is very evident and will sometimes be the tipping factor for a sale.

The difficult part is finding the right testimonial. Because everybody is different, there are going to be people who are too shy or simply just selfish with their time. That’s OK… you don’t want these people anyway. A grumpy or shy person is going to deliver a bad shot even if they just won the lottery. You need to be on the lookout for outgoing, friendly repeat customers (if possible). When you carefully select your referee you are going to get a review from a person who is likely to go out of their way to give you a good one (in some cases they get a little carried away and exaggerate which ain’t bad).

So how do you gather these video reviews?

There are many ways to go about this. Like I mentioned before, the quality of the picture doesn’t matter so much so long as its glowing and sincere. So if you happen to communicate with your clients via email, then why not ask for a quick testimonial on Skype? If they visit you at your store, then have a camera and tripod set up out back with a stool and a green screen (or white sheet) so you can do a quick review on the spot at any given time.  Another easy way is simply whipping out your iPhone and record the testimonial by hand.

The most important thing to do is gather as many of these as you can! I don’t care how good the first 3 shots were, you need to do a lot more. We do this because there are always going to be ones that are better than others. You want to keep the best ones at the top of your playlist… and of course, the more testimonials you have, the most trustworthy you become.
